The Ordinary Skincare has revolutionized the affordable beauty game! However, we found that because of the technical product names buying from this brand can be pretty confusing. That is why we decided to create The Ordinary Skincare Ultimate Guide!
This guide aims to introduce you to the brand by showing/ reviewing products that are worth trying! Making it simple to adjust for a mix-and-match approach.
In this guide, we will demystify all the confusion caused by some of The Ordinary product names!
THE ORDINARY SKINCARE GUIDE
– WHAT YOU SHOULD & SHOULDN´T DO
First of all, keep in mind that when trying new skincare products, especially when acids are involved, I recommend you start trying just one or two (max) new products at a time combined with products that you already trust. This way, you can see which products work and which cause irritation.
Also, it is super important to introduce these products slowly! Don’t rush! Apply small amounts and avoid the neck in the beginning. Usually, it is a sensitive area!
Another warning – be sure to cleanse correctly before applying these products.
– ADDITIONAL TIPS
Most of these products need to be warmed up with your hands before applying! I found that this simple step makes a huge difference!
I know that this might sound super overwhelming! Don’t worry! Every product comes with instructions, and the website is super helpful! Definitely check it out. I’ve linked it to every product!
THE ORDINARY SKINCARE PRODUCTS YOU NEED TO TRY
– 100% ORGANIC COLD-PRESSED ROSE HIP SEED OIL
This formula uses 100% pure Rosehip Seed Oil that is both cold-pressed and organic. It is suited for all skin types and can be used daily!
While cold-pressed extraction is complex, it preserves all of this essential oil quality, which is great for reducing signs of photo-aging and many other skin conditions.
I recommend you to patch test to avoid irritation!
– GRANACTIVE RETINOID 2% EMULSION
This product uses next-generation retinoid active technologies, which have been shown better to reduce aging signs than Retinol without irritation. If you want to experiment with an anti-aging acid, try this one!
Keep in mind that this is a powerful acid that required some caution!
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, avoid skincare products containing retinoids, such as formulations with Granactive Retinoid or Retinol.
Also, be aware that Retinoids can make the skin more sensitive to UV radiation. Sun protection is critical when using retinoids!
It is also vital to state that YOU SHOULD’NT use it in conjunction with other retinoids, including Retinol or retinoic acid.
– HYALURONIC ACID 2% + B5
I love this product! It is a hydration support formula with ultra-pure, vegan hyaluronic acid!
This formula uses three forms of HA (Hyaluronic Acid) with varying molecular weights and an HA crosspolymer to offer multi-depth hydration!
PLUS – It makes your skin visible plumping without drawing water out of the skin solely to improve temporary surface hydration. Definitely a great way to boost your hydration levels!

– SALICYLIC ACID 2% MASQUE
I can’t recommend enough this masque with 2% Salicylic Acid, Vegetable Charcoal, Amazonian Clays, and Squalane! It is great!
This formula with charcoal and clays aims to enhance smoothness and clarity, leaving the skin feeling refreshed.
This product can reveal a more radiant skin beneath by targeting and removing the dead skin cells on the surface of oily and blemish-prone skin. This masque is a rinse-off formula. I will recommend using in the PM and leaving it on for no longer than 10 minutes to maximize the exfoliating benefits.
Contraindications: This formula should not be used on sensitive, peeling, or compromised skin.
Also, use sun protection, you should use it every time and every day! However, in this case, it is mandatory when using these products with acids!
– GLYCOLIC ACID 7% TONING SOLUTION
This tonic has 7% glycolic acid, amino acids, aloe vera, ginseng, and Tasmanian pepper berry.
Glycolic Acid is known because it is an alpha hydroxy acid that exfoliates the skin. This 7% toning solution offers mild exfoliation for improved skin radiance and visible clarity.
Besides that, this formula also improves the appearance of skin texture with continued use. I would recommend you to use this in the PM and no more frequently than once per day.
One thing that you should retain from this, The Ordinary Ultimate Guide is that less is more! Don’t overdue. It could be damaging!
– SQUALANE CLEANSER
This product is one of the most gentle and moisturizing cleansers that I’ve ever tried!
This cleanser’s formula has Squalane, which, alongside other lipophilic esters, makes this solution very moisturizing and efficient in dissolving makeup and facial impurities.
It is a very easy product to work with.
You should rub it between your palms for approximately 10-30 seconds. The product changes from a cream to a clear oil-like texture. Then you rinse it with water! Because this is a non-comedogenic and soap-free product, it gentle enough for daily use without over-drying the skin! Plus is suitable for all skin types.
– NATURAL MOISTURIZING FACTORS + HA
I really like this moisturizer! Is one of my favorites! This formula has elements that keep the outer layer of the skin protected as well as very hydrated.
It is a non-greasy product with many components that offer immediate hydration and lasting results with continued use.
I absolutely recommend this product! It is one of my favorites from this – The Ordinary Skincare Ultimate Guide! Use this every day! Definitely a keeper in my skincare routine!
