On Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating all the ways to be a woman! Womanhood is beautiful and needs to be celebrated and valued! Let’s embrace it!
As you know, at The Vanity Magazine, we like to empower women! For that reason, we feel like it was mandatory to do a post covering some topics on this wonderful Women’s History Month!
Sometimes we might forget the power and beauty regarding what it means to be a woman! We are here to remind you!
Never forget, we are stronger than ever!
Nowadays, women are finally defying society’s mentality. Plus are imposing the rights and respect that we deserve — and that’s powerful. Nobody can stop us now!
– DEFINING WOMANHOOD
Defining Womanhood can be a tricky task! We all have a personal definition. Some might think that being a woman has a direct relation to being feminine. However, that’s not always the case!
One thing I am sure of, being a woman, is being inclusive!
“Womanhood is definitely not defined by relationships, jobs, body parts, or anything else — it’s not defined by anyone or anything but yourself.” That’s the beauty of it!
– WHY DO WE HAVE AN WOMEN’S HISTORY MONTH?
Women’s History Month is a celebration that occurs annually! This month, March! It aims to celebrate women’s contributions to events in history and contemporary society!
Corresponding with International Women’s Day on March 8. The idea of celebrating Womanhood first began in 1978 as “Women’s History Week” in California.
Initially, it began to be recognized as a national week in 1980. However, it quickly changed to a monthly celebration. After this happened in the US, it quickly spread to an international commemoration!
This celebration is important because we don’t live in a completely equal society! That is the reason why movements like the feminist one are so important!
– WHAT DOES FEMINISM REALLY MEAN?
Some like to define Feminsm as the perception that women are better than men! Well, that is COMPLETELY WRONG!
According to Britannica, “Feminism is the belief in social, economic, and political equality of the sexes. Feminism is manifested worldwide and is represented by various institutions committed to activity on behalf of women’s rights and interests.”
To sum up – Feminism is the belief that everyone should be treated equally no matter the gender or sex.
